Business is at a standstill in down town Kampala after street vendors in the Old taxi park decided to retaliate against the KCCA enforcement officers who tried to evict them.
After their eviction from the city streets, many decided to relocate to the old taxi park but were this morning ejected from there.
The angry traders blame the government for not providing them an alternative place to relocate as suggested by the City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
Police has fired bullets in the air to disperse the rowdy traders. Police are heavily deployed on all streets and business is still paralyzed with about 30 arrested
Some enforcement officers were also beaten up and stones hurled at them as they ran across William Street for safety.
Earlier Kampala City Authority Minister Betty Kamya issued a directive for the eviction of all street vendors advising them to relocate to gazetted markets.
