A hot contest is brewing up within the ruling NRM party.
This is after several senior party members have started showing interest in various positions with the latest being the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanya.
With just days to the delegate’s conference due on Saturday 25th January at Nambole stadium, Oulanya took to twitter yesterday to declare interest for the seat in a post where he clearly indicated that the time is now.
Oulanya seeks to unseat the former State Minister for Housing, Sam Engola who currently holds the position.
Several other party members among them, tourism minister Godfrey Kiwanda has also been reported to be eying the Buganda vice-chairperson post which is currently held by former minister without portfolio Abdul Nadduli.
Meanwhile, senior presidential advisor Moses Byaruhanga has however said the forthcoming delegate’s conference will not be used to elect office-bearers.
He says another conference after election of NRM structures will be convened to elect officer bearers.
