January 25, 2012 by Julian Amutuhaire in news with 1 Comment

Santos Macmot, the man accused of indiscriminate shooting at a crowd in Luzira on Sunday has been charged with murder at the Nakawa magistrate’s court.

He is accused of shooting one John Onyango dead on 22th January along Port bell road in Luzira.

Macmot was part of the team that embarked on a demolition exercise, led by city director for physical planning George Agaba that turned bloody.

The spokesperson for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions Jane Kajuga however says they don’t have adequate evidence to warrant prosecution of any other person, regarding the shooting.

She says investigations are still ongoing and that if any more evidence is found, action will be taken.

The state prosecutor Joseph Bayige says inquiries in the matter still ongoing. Grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu has remanded him to Luzira prison until 8th Feb. for mention of the case.

Even Agaba needed to face the same charges since this guard acted on instruction probably from his boss. i am not satisfied with his release.
