The finance minister Matia Kasaija is today expected to present formal apology on the floor of parliament for misleading legislators on the controversial mobile money tax.
Kasaija recently revealed that the 1% tax on all mobile transactions was an error and should not have been passed.
President Yoweri Museveni also said that the 1% was a misinformation asserting that the actual tax was 0.5% a levy that was open for discussion.
Yesterday the speaker Rebecca Kadaga directed Kasaija together with others on his working committee to apologize for casting parliament in bad light.
The speakers decision follows a concern raised by Kabula County MP James Kakooza who said that the minister’s decision to address the public and not Parliament, was wanting.
