The former President of Kenya Daniel Arap Moi has died.
His death has been confirmed by President Uhuru Kenyatta thorugh a presidential proclamation this morning.
Moi has been in and out of hospital in the past years.
Speaking on Kenya’s Citizen TV this morning, the former Moi President Secretary Lee Njiru who eulogizes Moi as his father and mentor says the late has been hospitalized since October 10th 2019 and has never left hospital.
He adds that Moi’s health condition had worsened for the last week.
“For the last three years, I have seen the decline in his health. He started by using a walking stick then a wheelchair, I can’t mention all the details,” Said Lee.
According to Wikipedia, Moi was born on 2nd September 1924, in Kabarak village, Sacho division, Baringo County.
He became president following the death of the then president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
He shall be remembered as the longest serving president of Kenya due to his long rule of 24 years.
