US Africa army commander calls for more training for Somali army

The Somali National Army needs to be equipped with the necessary tactics to help them protect the sovereignty of their own country.

The statement has been made by the Commander of the US Army in Africa Maj Gen Joseph Harrington while meeting the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi at the army headquarters Mbuya.

Maj Gen Harrington said this skilling should be done by all Troop Contributing Countries in Somalia, applauding and commending UPDF’s role in the pacification of both Somalia and the Central Africa Republic (CAR).

He expressed his commitment and willingness to help UPDF fill its training gaps in both Maritime engagements and Air Defence.

Gen David Muhoozi, lauded the US Army for its enormous contributions towards the success of UPDF missions, saying that the building of capacity of UPDF soldiers would make the region more stable
