The Uganda Communications Commission has confirmed registration of 70% out of the approximately 22 million sim-cards in Uganda.

Speaking to media today, the commission executive director Godfrey Mutabazi said the public response has been promising though extra work is needed.

However, security minister Henry Tumukunde says there will be no further extension of the decline beyond 19th May.

Data from the National Identification and Registration Authority shows that they have received details of 13 million people from different telecommunication companies, and so far 11 million have been verified.
