Oulanyah in parliament

Uganda has improved in parliament performance, according to the 2nd Africa Parliamentary Index.

The report assesses performance of Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Benin, Ghana, Senegal and Zambia.

Uganda’s parliament scored 82.9%, up from 80.6% in 2010.

Uganda performed highly in legislative and financial functions given the active participation in the budget process.

On representation through articulation of constituents’ issues and institutional capacity the performance was moderate.

However oversight in holding government accountable, transparency and integrity ranked low.

The report to be launched by the deputy speaker Jacob Oulanya also gives Kenya 73% up from 69%, while Tanzania dropped to 71% from 74% in 2010.
