8 Senior Police Officers Suspended Over Incompetence

The Police Professional Standards Unit has suspended eight senior police officers in Lira district for alleged abuse of office and incompetence.

The North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, David Ongom says the suspension follows a recent rectification campaign aimed at improving professionalism among police officers.

Some of the suspended officers are Francis Liga, the Officer in Charge of Lira Main Market Police Post, another only identified as Aula and the officer in charge of Lira Bus Park Police post whose identity could not immediately be established.

Police officers in Lira have of recently come under attack for reportedly soliciting bribes and mismanagement of cases.
