By Moses Kyeyune.

The tension surrounding the disputed Apaa land boundary has taken a new twist with MP’s from Acholi Community rejecting government proposal to compensate locals with 10 million shillings each.

The protracted conflict involves clashes along the boundary stretch between Adjumani and Amuru.

This has often resulted into counter clashes between Acholi locals in Amuru and the Madi community of Adjumani, with each claiming ancestral ownership of Apaa land.

As a stop gap measure, government has proposed a 10 million package for resettling people in the disputed area to pave way for government take over.

However, addressing the media at Parliament in Kampala, MPs including Kilak South Mp Gilbert Olanya, Amuru Woman MP Lucy Akello and Lyandro Komakech of Gulu Municipality have vowed to fight on and fail the deal, so as the residents remain on their land.
