Former premier Amama Mbabazi will start consultation meetings on the 9th of July 2015.

This is contained in a letter to the electoral commission through which Mbabazi officially introduces himself as an aspiring presidential candidate

Mbabazi quotes section 3 of the presidential elections act that dictates that aspiring candidates inform the commission about their intention.

In the letter, Mbabazi draws a timetable that shows him kicking off his meetings in Mbale, Soroti and Moroto

From there he will go to Lira Gulu and Arua before hitting Kampala on the 17th of July 2015.

Mbabazi will be rounding up his consultations in Kanungu his home district.

Mbabazi also reminded the electoral commission that the law grants him permission to consult with the electorates before nominations.

This comes a day after the electoral commission and Police accused Mbabazi’s supporters of conducting early campaigns
