American national charged with forgery of currency notes

American national allegedly found in possession of forged US dollars has been charged and remanded to Luzira prison.

27 year Ryan Andrew Gustafson together with his co-accused Christopher Kojo, a Ugandan have been charged before Buganda Road Court Grade one Magistrate Joan Aciro.

The duo is charged with nine counts of being in possession of forged currency notes, unlawful possession of one live ammunition, selling articles bearing designs in currency notes and conspiracy to commit a felony, all of which they denied.

Prosecution led by Lillian Omara says the two on December 11th 2014 at Mbalwa village Namugongo in Wakiso district and Speke Hotel in Kampala without lawful excuse had in possession of forged US dollar notes.

Gustafson is separately charged with another offence of illegal entry into Uganda.

They are remanded until December 18th when they re-appear for hearing of their bail application.
