A day after Uganda was declared Marburg- free, tension is rising in Kasese town where a man has shown signs of the deadly hemorrhagic fever.
The ministry of health yesterday announced that the Marburg outbreak that was confirmed in early October following the death of a Radiographer at Mengo hospital had been completely controlled.
In Kisagazi cell, Nyamwamba Division Kasese district however, Alazio Bitaka who was vomiting blood has been shunned by his family.
He was only picked by medical workers from Kasese Municipal health center II following an alarm raised by local leaders.
The In-Charge of Kasese Municipal health center III Jerome Bwenge says that Bitaka has been isolated and his blood samples taken for testing at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe.
Bwenge says the man is recovering from the high fever but remains in isolation.
