The Supreme Court has declined to stay proceedings at the Anti-Corruption Court.

The five justices led by Bart Katureebe have ruled that the applicant, Davis Tusingwire failed to prove that he would suffer irreparable damage if the proceedings went on.

The justices also said that halting the proceedings would be dangerous because it would deny many people speedy trial and access to justice.

Davis Wesley Tusingwire had filed an application for an interim injunction seeking orders blocking operations of the Anti -graft court pending the determination of the main petition.

In the main petition, Tusingwire is challenging the operation of magistrates at the Anti-Corruption Court which is a division of the High Court.

In July 2013 the Court’s operations were temporarily suspended pending determination of the petition and it resumed operations on January 1st 2014.
