The Arch Bishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has asked government to sign and ratify the Arms Trade Treaty.
The Arms Trade Treaty is a multilateral instrument that regulates the international trade in conventional weapons.
It entered into force on 24 December 2014 and so far 65 states have ratified it.
66 other states have signed but not ratified it.
Archbishop Lwanga now says this will save the country from the rampant shootings that have resulted into the loss of lives.
He was addressing thousands of Christians who converged for the Joint prayers to mark the way of the Cross at Nakivubo stadium.
His remarks come as the country still mourns the death of senior state prosecutor Joan Kagezi who was gunned down by unknown assailants on Monday.
Meanwhile, as Christians conclude the lent period, religious leaders are asking them to renew their faith in Jesus Christ who died for their sins.
Farther Joseph Ssebunya of Rubaga Cathedral says it is during this time that Christians are advised to give up all their sins and take on a new life in the resurrected Christ.
