Government has tabled the Kampala Capital City Authority (Amendment) Bill 2015 for first reading.
The bill seeks to among other things amend the Kampala Capital City Act 2010 to streamline and strengthen governance of the capital city.
Once passed into law will provides for election of the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor by the council from among the Councillors and not the public as has been the case.
The bill was tabled by the Attorney General Fred Ruhindi on behalf of the minister for Kampala Frank Tumwebaze.
The speaker has referred the bill to the Presidential Affairs Committee.
