The world today woke up to the sad news of the death of internationally renowned best-selling author and preacher, business and leadership coach, Dr. Myles Munroe.
Dr. Munroe died in a plane crash in the Bahamas together with his wife Ruth, daughter Charisa and six other people when his plane reportedly flew low and struck a crane.
The most recent memory on Dr. Munroe in the minds of many Ugandans is when he graced parliament’s 15th annual National Prayer Breakfast as guest speaker on October 8th 2013.
His address on leadership was delivered clearly, each word forming a building block of another.
The first lady Janet Museveni was among the first leaders to send out a condolence message.
In a tweet, Mrs. Museveni said she was deeply saddened by the death of the International preacher and renowned author.
In a press statement, the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga said she was honored that he could respond to her invitation at rather short notice.
Ms Kadaga added, “Dr. Munroe and his wife will forever be remembered for their work and teachings on leadership, discovery of purpose, maximizing of potential, vision, individual and national transformation, and for coaching and mentoring many leaders from around the world.”
Legislators have also expressed shock at the death of the international evangelist.
One of the organizers of the Annual prayer breakfast, Benson Obua-Ogwal, at which Munroe was keynote speaker last year, says the world has lost an important religious leader.
Ogwal cites his preaching on good leadership as one of the key messages that Uganda should emulate.
Meanwhile Dr. James Magara the chairperson the Jubilee organizing committee has described him as an irreplaceable leader.
The head of the Born-again community in Uganda, Dr. Joseph Serwadda too has spoken out describing Dr. Myles as a key pillar in the church who did a lot in spreading the word of God through preaching and publications.
Born on April 20 1954, Munroe was the author of 69 books and a motivational speaker whose teaching cut across leadership, philosophy, theology, human inter-relations and contemporary politics.
