One person has died instantly and seven others survived with serious injuries in a motor accident that occurred this morning in Nakasongola district.

The accident occurred when a Gulu-bound bus rammed into a stationary truck at Kyampisi along the Kampala- Gulu highway.

Savannah region police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi says the injured have been rushed to Kasana health center and Mulago hospitals for treatment.

Kigozi says the bus Registration Number UAP741U belongs to HMK Coaches while the tipper truck is under registration number UAP 454C.

He adds that the cause of the accident is yet to be established and that they are still hunting for the truck and bus drivers who are on the run.

“By the time our officers arrived at the scene, all the injured had been rushed to Kasana Health Center and Mulago hospital”, Kigozi adds.

The accident has happened at a time when the police is urging all motorists to avoid over speeding during this festive season.
