Some Bus companies plying the Kampala- Nairobi route have temporally stopped their operations today as Kenya prepares for the general elections slated for Tuesday next week.
According to the courier manager at Mash Bus Services Alex Mulinda, they have temporally stopped their buses from going to the Kenyan capital Nairobi because of security concerns.
He says the buses will only resume normal operatiions after ascertaining that the security situation after the elections is good.
However, Aida Kaye the assistant manager Modern Coast, another affected bus company insists that they will continue with their operations depending on the security situation on the Kenyan side.
Meanwhile, With just two days to the Kenya general election, a total of 150,000 police officers have been deployed to voting centres.
They were drawn from the regular unit, the Administration Police and the General Service Unit.
The last batch of officers will arrive at their destinations by Sunday.
According to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, they have put in place adequate security measures and deployed police officers as per Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission request and also for the security needs assessment across the country.
He says the police will serve without fear or favour and that every officer will remain impartial while discharging his or her mandate in strict adherence with the law.
