Last week President Yoweri Museveni announced that the 1% on mobile money was a misinformation asserting that the actual tax on mobile money is 0.5%.

Speaking to KFM, the chairman Kampala mobile money dealer association Matthias Lukyamuzi says they have resolved to close down all mobile money outlets starting Monday for a minimum of two weeks to enable government reflect on its decisions.

Lukyamuzi says working under the current tax regime is not economical and thus they have resolved to remain home until the proposed 0.5% levy by the president is scrapped.
