Businessman forges land title marriage certificate to acquire loan

 A 47-year old businessman who allegedly forged a land title and a marriage certificate to acquire a 200 million shillings bank loan has been remanded to Luzira prison.

Christopher Kibuuka a resident of Mbale North Division, Mbale City in Mbale District has appeared before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald  Kayizzi and denied the allegations.

Kibuuka is charged with five counts including forgery, uttering false documents and obtaining credit by false pretence.

Prosecution’s Ivan Kyazze states that between the month of February and April 2023 at Diamond Trust Bank Kampala Road, Kibuuka forged a land title for  block 246 plot 823 land at Kyeitabya Kyadondo purporting to have been signed by the registrar of titles KCCA and uttered it to Diamond Trust  bank to enable him acquire a loan.

Prosecution further states that the  accused and others still at large between the month of February and April 2023 at Diamond Trust Bank Kampala Road , forged a marriage certificate for the Namirembe Diocese Church of Uganda purporting to have been signed by the Registrar of Church Marriages that him and Namono Phylis were legally married  whereas not.

Kibuuka pretended that the said loan was being requested by Namono; his wife.

He denied the charges and returns to court on May,23rd,2024.
