EC Chair Kiggundu

Polling materials for the Butebo by elections will be dispatched today.

The Electoral Commission Chairman, Eng Badru Kiggundu says preparations are in high gear for the polling exercise slated for Thursday June 6th.

Kiggundu says that designated candidates’ agents should report to the district returning officer at 6 a.m tomorrow to observe the dispatch of materials to the respective sub counties.

Polling officials will collect kits from the sub county headquarters on Thursday morning and the commission has issued strict guidelines to be adhered by all candidates and stakeholders.

The total number of voters expected to participate in the exercise is 52,835.

Seven candidates are in the race, including NRM’s Patrick Mutono, FDC’s Samuel Khalwa, DP’s Zaid Ziwa and four other independent candidates to replace the former Disaster Preparedness minister, Stephen Malinga who died in April.
