The 2024 National Housing and Population Census (NHPC) exercise enters Day Four today with calls on enumerators to emphasize accuracy, respect, confidentiality, and safety of the data collected.

This latest call comes from the Commissioner of Prisons in charge custodial services, Jacob Kivumbi who was speaking to enumerators and supervisors at Luzira Prisons.

Kivumbi reveals that so far, over 70,000 inmates accommodated in the 269 prison units grouped in 19 regions have been counted.

The enumeration exercise is expected to cover over 14,000 staff and their families.

Meanwhile, the census exercise runs until May 19th except for the tree districts of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono where it was extended by one day to make up for time lost due glitches experienced by enumerators on day one.

Dr Chris Mukiza, the Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) explains that the three districts were affected due to mal-functional Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) tablets.
