Sembabule District Chairperson has ordered for demotion of head teachers of public schools that failed to get pupils with first grades in the 2016 Primary Leaving Exams.

Sembabule District Chairperson, Dr Elly Muhumuuza made the directive while delivering his speech at a farewell party of the outgoing District Chief Administrative Officer Simon Bimbona.

Muhumuza says that the Government loses a lot of money to financing public schools but it’s unfortunate that the school head teachers have not done enough to improve their schools performance in Primary Leaving Exams.

Muhumuza says that there is no need of holding such school heads in leadership of public schools when pupils cannot pass.

He wonders why pupils in private schools continues to pass yet some people teaching in theses schools are not qualified and are paid little money compared to those in public schools.

Paul Bwana Nantamu Sembabule District Education Officer says that out of the 179 government primary schools in the district only 30% managed to get pupils with first grades.

He says that the education department is going to conduct a meeting to discuss the fate of the affected school heads.
