A Cholera outbreak has been confirmed in Mbale district, with 2 deaths already reported.

According to the Uganda Red Cross society, at least 26 victims of the disease are admitted at Busuwo health centre.

The Red Cross Assistant Director in charge Disaster Management Kevin Nabutuwa , the outbreak has been reported in the villages of Maluku and Namatala both located in Mbale municipality.

She notes that the district health team has already set up a cholera treatment centre at Namanyonyi where they are providing medical treatment to all affected residents.

Nabutowa says a sensitization campaign has kicked off on how to maintain proper hygiene.
