Traders have asked parliament to spear head the campaign to revive the national carrier to ease exportation of goods and services.

According to the chairman Kampala City Traders Association Everest Kayondo, Uganda is losing many tourists because it lacks a National carrier that would have acted as an advertising plat form for Ugandans abroad.

Uganda’s national flag carrier, the Uganda Airlines collapsed in 2001 following attempts by the government to privatize the company. After potential bidders pulled out, the company was liquidated.

Kayondo said despite Tourism promotion, Uganda traders now have to wait for Kenyans to occupy spaces in Kenya airways before they are considered and this has greatly affected business especially the export sector.
