By Abubaker Kirunda.

Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Kagoma county Member of Parliament Moses Walyomu for failing to pay costs of an election petition he lost in the Court of Appeal.

The petition was filed by independent candidate Alex Kintu shortly after the 2016 parliamentary elections, accusing Walyomu of involvement in election mal-practice.

The March 16tharrest warrant signed by the Jinja High Court deputy registrar Jesse Byaruhanga indicates that Walyomu has refused to pay Shs28million to clear costs of an appeal he lost.

However Walyomu says he is yet to receive the warrant of arrest and that he has already cleared his part of the court costs and the  Shs28million is to be paid by the Electoral Commission.
