The Monitor Publications limited, has today given out electronic and other household equipment to newspaper vendors and agents as a way to motivate them for the services they are render the company.
According to Justus Katungi the circulation manager, the weekly prizes are part of an ongoing in-house nationwide campaign which the company launched last month involving all the Monitor staff and the newspaper agents and vendors around the country.
Katungi says the Company will be giving the agents and vendors weekly prizes which will be determined by the volume of sales they make per week as one of the ways to increase newspaper sales as well as motivate them.
“This is part of the be the difference campaign. We want to reward the best performing vendors and agents in terms of increasing sales and we also want to motivate them that more sales means more money and prizes,” he said yesterday at the company head office as he handed over the presents which included flat TV screens, rice cookers, smart phones and flat irons among other equipment.
Last Month Monitor Publications grouped its staff all over the country into four groups and launched an inter-group campaign dubbed: be the difference. The campaign which ends in December has different monthly themes in which the staff in their groups are required to create activities which will involve community service as well as taking the company products to the communities.
Last month the key activities involved staff members selling copies of the newspapers alongside the vendors and washing vehicles as one of the ways to promote the newspaper and recruit new readers.
This month the staff members are expected to identify and carryout corporate social responsibility projects which may include visiting orphanages with a key focus on health, education, environment and community outreaches.
