She was previously the Commissioner Legal and Board Affairs at URA.
She has been given a four year contract and starts work on November 1st.
Akol has pledged to ensure transparency and to partner with other government bodies to ensure that they achieve the Shs.9.5tn target for the financial year 2014.2015.

Meanwhile, the former URA boss Allen Kagina has congratulated Akol, expressing confidence that she is equipped to take URA even higher.
While Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka has asked the new Commissioner General Doris Akol to devise means of encouraging people to pay taxes willingly.

Akol studied at Makerere University Law School and credited for leading the team that recently won the multimillion dollar case in which it was sued by Tullow Oil, protesting payment of over US$ 472 million as income tax.
