The Democratic Party(DP) awaits a decision of the Electoral Commission regarding the fate of its president.
Lawyers representing Norbert Mao today presented a petition to the commission chairman Eng Badru Kiggundu after their client was blocked from being nominated yesterday.
Mao is seeking to contest for the Gulu Municipality parliamentary seat.
Yesterday the Electoral Commission blocked his nomination on grounds that he is not a registered voter since his name does not appear in the updated voters register.
The register was updated after the mass enrollment exercise.
Mao lawyers are led by Nicholas Opio who says the commission has promised to sit as a make a decision that will be communicated to DP soon.
