With just two days to the general poll on Thursday, the East African Election Observer mission has flagged off 74 observers and support staff.

These include members from the EAC Legislative Assembly,   East   Court of Justice, Secretariat and Electoral   Management Bodies, and Human Rights Commissions Partner States.

The Mission head, Domitien Ndayizeye, who is the former president of Burundi says they are deploying equitably across all regions of the country.

He say part of their mandate is to identify challenges, opportunities and strengths that can be harnessed into best practices for the region through peer learning by the Electoral Management Bodies.

The team is currently undergoing a contextual training ahead of field deployment and will dispatch to the various parts of the country on 12thJanuary,.

Ndayizeye has also commented about the highly contested decision by the electoral commission to ban phones and cameras inside the polling station.

He has meanwhile asked Ugandans to be calm and avoid any acts of violence as they head to the polls.

Ndayizeye who is also the head of the regional observer mission has also asked all voters not to be scared but go out there and exercise their right to vote.
