The President of the UN General Assembly has identified the Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa as one of the key challenges that Africa is currently facing.

Sam Kutesa was speaking at a high-level panel on “The Africa We Want: Support of the United Nations system to the African Union’s Agenda 2063.”

He said Africa continues to be an attractive destination for increased investment.

In his statement to inaugurate the Africa Week, Kutesa said the expected adoption of Agenda 2063 in January next year will be a critical step in shaping Africa’s development over the next 50 years.

Kutesa said it is essential to finalize, embrace and implement Agenda 2063 by making it a central part of international development plans.

Africa Week is observed by the United Nations each year.
