The Electoral Commission says it is yet to receive a letter from Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi introducing himself as an aspiring presidential candidate.

In a letter that circulated on several online platforms Mbabazi quotes section 3 of the Presidential Elections Act that requires aspiring candidates to inform the commission about their intention.

The letter also indicates that he will start holding district meetings July 9th in Mbale, Moroto, and Kampala before heading to his home district of Kanungu.

However the commission Spokesperson Jotham Taremwa says they will give an appropriate response after receiving the said letter
