Famers have welcomed the amendments that were inserted in the newly passed Tobacco Control Bill 2015.

The bill calls for cigarretesmocking to only be permitted areas within a radius of 50 meters from public places, and restricted to those aged 21 and above.

The bill also prescribes that 65% on the cigarrete packet be reserved for health warnings among other issues.

Now according to Nandala Mafaabi who has representing the views of the farmers says the amended clauses of the bill that was passed yesterday have toned down the language and penalties so tobacco farming will survive.

He explained that the bill in its initial form was meant to ban tobacco growing rather than controlit’s use, but the new amendments encourage mutual existence.
