Uganda Cranes return to the Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years ended yesterday and was marked by a point and their 1st goal at the tournament since 1978 in the final game aginst Mali

The Cranes drew 1-1 with the Mali in the two countries last group match played at a waterlogged Stade D’Oyem following a down pour before the official warm up sessions.

Standard Liege’s midfielder Faruku Miya opened the scoring with a wonder strike from 25 yards after 69 minutes before Lille play maker Yves Bissouma quickly responded with a stunning free-kick three minutes later.

A point earned and a goal for the Cranes means they  leave the tournament after 39 years with at least a goal and a point.

Uganda and Mali have no more business in Gabon and now return home.
