The forum for Democratic change has urged parliament to enact a law to push the electoral commission to change the mode of election for Local Council I chairpersons.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjankumbi, the party deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija said they are not satisfied with the mode used by the Electoral Commission in the upcoming elections of LCs in January 2017, calling for the use of secret ballot as opposed to physically lining up behind candidates.

He notes that this method of lining behind your candidate is backward and will favour candidates who have money.

The party says they are concerned that the ruling NRM party might take advantage of the situation and hoodwink voters to choose their candidates especially where money changes hands.
