The FDC shadow finance minister, Geoffrey Ekanya has given electoral commission an ultimatum of 48 hours to declare him winner of Tororo north county Parliamentary seat.

The district returning officer on Saturday declared Annette Nyaketcho the winner in the race after polling 8911 votes while Ekanya garnered 8822 votes.

Ekanya claims that the electoral commission cancelled results from two polling stations of Mission church polling station and Kamuli Pagoya polling station all in Mukuju sub county one of his strong holds over un-known reasons.

He says he has written to the commission asking them to include the cancelled results and declare the genuine winner or give reasons for the cancellation of the elections results from two polling stations.

Ekanya says he is consulting with my lawyers to guide him on on other options to secure his victory.

However the electoral commission insists that the election results from the two polling stations were cancelled after it was proved that the complainant Ekanya reportedly escorted the results up to the tallying center a practice which is not acceptable and the ballot boxes had broken seals.
