The police are taking the fight against terrorism to schools.

All schools in Kampala will be required to establish check points at their entrances with security equipment.

Parents will also be subjected to thorough checking before getting into schools.

In the same vein, teachers have been asked to pass on vigilance messages to pupils and create clubs whose members will be given anti-terrorism training.

The police commandant Kampala metropolitan, Andrew Felix Kaweesi says this is all intended to ensure safety of children while at school and avoid any possible attacks.

Kaweesi says schools are also a primary target for terrorists hence the need to secure them.

The police have stepped up security in places that attract huge crowds after a fresh terror alert was issued by the US embassy in Uganda.
