Three football fans have dragged the Federation of Uganda Football Associations to the High Court seeking over Sh15million in compensation for denying them access to Mandela National Stadium at Namboole for the Cranes -Comoros match on 4th/September.
Led by Geoffrey Turyamusiima, the trio claims that in August they bought tickets worth 6.6m to watch the historical game and were at the stadium 2 hours before the kick-off time.
They were however surprised to be denied access into the stadium on grounds that it was filled to capacity.
The fans now contend that it was a deliberate move by FUFA to defraud them of their money by printing and selling more tickets than the stadium’s 40,000 capacity.
They want court to order FUFA to refund their ticket money since their efforts to recover it have been proved futile.
Through their lawyers Anthony Wameli and Company Advocates, the fans also want Sh15million to awarded to them as damages for mental stress, anguish and embarrassment they suffered since they returned home without watching the match.
In the said match, Uganda cranes beat Comoros 1-nill and it qualified for the AFCON in Gabon.
The court’s Registrar Alex Ajiji has issued summons ordering FUFA to file it’s defence within 15 days before the cases can be hndled by Justice Lydia Mugambe.
