By Ruth Anderah.

Former Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Apollo Kantinti has been committed to serve six months at Luzira -civil prison over an 108 million shilling debt. The debt arises from costs of an election petition appeal he lost against NRM’s leader Sitenda Sebalu.

Kantinti’s committal today comes after the former FDC youth legislator spent ten days at Luzira prison over a 300 million shilling loan acquired from Standard chartered Bank in June 2016 to enable him participate in a by-election to fill the Kyadondo East parliamentary slot that the High court had declared vacant.

Kantinti had promised to pay the Bank within 50 months but unfortunately he lost the by-election to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, hence prompting the Bank to use the High court’s Execution division to recover the money.
