Former public service PS Jimmy Lwamafa corruption case pushed to January
The hearing of a corruption case against the jailed former permanent secretary in the ministry of public service Jimmy Lwamafa and others has been pushed to January 2017.
The case had come up for hearing but the trial magistrate Margaret Tibulya adjourned it to 23rd January 2016 after one of the suspects , city lawyer Bob Kasango told court that he is unwell and requested for another date.
The three former ministry officials Lwamafa, Christopher Obey and Kiwanuka Kunsa are jointly charged with City Lawyer Kasango and a High Court Clerk Milton Mutegeki of forging court orders in order to steal pensioner’s money amounting to 15billion shillings.
Prosecution says the said money was paid to a defunct law firm, Hall and Partners formerly belonging to Kasango as legal fees yet he had not handled the case in question.
Kasango says High Court Judge John Keitirima while still working as registrar Civil division awarded him 7.9 billion shillings as costs for a case that he had allegedly filed on behalf of over 6000 pensioners whereas not.
The three ministry officials Lwamafa, Obey and Kunsa are currently in prison serving 5, 7 and 10years respectively for stealing 88bn shillings from government by making unnecessary remittances of public servants to NSSF.
