By Ritah Kemigisa.

The justice court of Appeal Remmy Kasule has underscored the need to give the Chief Justice more powers if he is to fully execute his mandate.

Giving a key note address at a stake holders meeting to devise strategies for passing of the legal Aid and administration of justice bills, Kasule says the Chief Justice needs to be given the power to participate in the choosing of judicial officers and disciplining them.

Kasule argues that the justice bill in its current form does not give the person of the Chief Justice such powers thus calling upon the stakeholders to consider revising the bill before it’s enacted into a law.

He has meanwhile appealed to legislators in the 10th parliament to fast track the enactment of the administration of the justice bill and legal aid bill into law if justice of all persons is to prevail in Uganda.
