Ugandans will start receiving Pfizer covid19 vaccine next Monday.

On Monday, the country received over 1.6m doses of Pfizer vaccine doses from the US government.

According to the head of immunisation at the ministry of health, Dr Alfred Driwale, Pfizer vaccination will commence next week after they have finished existent doses in Kampala to avoid confusion between the many other doses.

He however says e vaccines will be given to priority groups which include teachers, health workers, people who are 50 years or older and security personnel which total to around 4.8 million.

Although reports from a study by the University of Oxford in June found that mixing AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines generated a robust immune response against the virus, including higher antibodies that the two shot AstraZeneca, Dr Driwale says there will be no mixing of vaccines in Uganda.
