The government through the Ministry of Education has kick-started the process of overhauling the entire education system to come up with new policies that will replace the old outdated ones that were formulated way back in 1992.

Among the key things the Ministry of education is looking at is changing the policies on curriculum, assessment, teaching, and placement of learners.

Addressing journalists at Uganda Media Centre yesterday, the Secretary to the Education Policy Review Commission (EPRC) Brighton Barugahare says that unlike previously where experts would sit and come up with policies, the government is this time slated to involve the public.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Dr Denis Mugimba says that the Education Policy Review Commission will tomorrow start meeting the public to present their views and hand in the report to the minister before May.

The Minister of education will thereafter present the report to the cabinet and once approved, it will become the government white paper on education 2022 that will govern the education sector going forward.
