The Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB) together with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) and the Trade Facilitation Office Canada have launched the Export Launchpad program to provide women-led Small scale and Medium Enterprises SMEs with tools and knowledge to expand their businesses globally.

Speaking at the launch, the executive director of UEPB, Elly Twineyo, represented by Michael Okecho, said the program aims to address the main constraints faced by women exporters like lack of skills, resources, and network to access the global markets.

He noted that the program will include training of 50 trainers across the country who will in turn offer training to SMEs from agri-food value chains and related sub-sectors.

A total of 112 SMEs will be equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge that will contribute to introducing an efficient and effective way of exporting their products to Canada, regional and international markets.

Meanwhile, the state minister of cooperatives, Frederick Gume, lauded development patterns for their continued efforts to promote Uganda’s exports.
