Uganda’s Vice President and Chancellor of St. Lawrence University, Jessica Alupo, has urged graduates to work hard and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

She made these remarks on Thursday during the 15th graduation ceremony of St. Lawrence University, where over 500 students were awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates in various disciplines.

Alupo encouraged the graduates to apply the skills gained from their studies to solve community challenges and to continuously pursue further education to stay competitive in the evolving job market.

“It is important to remember the valuable lessons and experiences you have gained during your time at this university. These experiences have not only shaped your academic knowledge, but have also cultivated essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication,” Alupo said.

Additionally, she advised the graduates to build strong professional networks that will support their career growth as they enter the workforce.
