Grand mother convicted for ritual murder

A 76 year old grandmother is to face trial in the Kampala High Court for allegedly participating in a ritual murder  of her grand daughter.

Hanifa Namuyanja is jointly charged with her grandson Hussein Lukenge for the

Murder of Shamim Nalwoga in December 2012 at Kibalama Zone in Lukuli , Makindye division.

Namuyanja, Lukenge and a one Hadijja Nasaka, a traditional healer are  said to have fed Nalwoga on soil and paraffin before slicing her body to remove her private parts , tongue and the eyes.

Nasaka a daughter to Namuyanja is currently on the run and a police arrest warrant is lingering on her head.

Lukenge and his grandmother will appear before Justice Joseph Murangira on 3rd Sept, 2015 to plead to the charges and for DPP to adduce witnesses in their case.

The two, who are currently on remand at Luzira prison, are part of other 30 capital offenders to be tried in a criminal session opened today at the Kampala High court.
