At least 2300 villages in Uganda have attained open defecation free status.
This has been achieved through the Uganda Sanitation Fund project being implemented by the Ministry of health in 30 districts.
According to a communication specialist from Ministry Bashir Hangi, by end of last year 1,418,400 people had achieved open defecation Free Environments in the districts where it is being implemented.
He however says a lot more is needed to check the vice.

The Uganda sanitation Fund is a 5 year projected funded by the water supply and sanitation collaboration council.
