13 contaminated boreholes closed by Nebbi officials

Nebbi officials are to close 13 boreholes after they were found to be contaminated and risky to the health of the locals.

They have been contaminated by the feacal matter from the nearby latrines and bacterial germs containing Ecoli.
According to the district Water Engineer, Mr Andrew Okecha, the affected areas include Afere primary, school, Nebbi main market, Koch Awinga senior secondary school, Nyaravur market among others.
He said the borehole water source which is contaminated by the high concentration of latrines and septic tanks with in the town council areas have for long been spotted for closure but the town council leaders did not act.
