Hundreds of residents of Kaabong and Moroto districts in Karamoja sub region have crossed to Kenya in search of food (famine).

Over 50,000 households across the region are faced with severe foodshortage following a prolonged dry spell and acute crop failure in the last rainy season.

The mayor of Kaabong town Council Gabriel Loiki has confirmed that several homes have been deserted.

Loikihas appealed to government to urgently provide relief food to avoid loss of lives.
